Scully Named New Director, Founder Hemmenway Steps Down
Angela Scully joins the Darlington family as our new Executive Director beginning January 15, 2009. Darlington’s current Executive Director and Founder, Diana Sophocles Hemmenway steps down after 30 years of incredible growth and success in her vision of bringing together the performing and visual arts under one roof. Scully comes from Singing City, where for the last 7 years she was Executive Director. Prior to that, she was the Development Director for Friends School Haverford and Executive Director of Strings for Schools (now Musicopia). Before coming to the Philadelphia area in 1991 Scully had a political consulting business in Washington, DC where she worked on House and Senate races and ran special events around the country. She is also a painter. Her vibrant watercolors and oils have been shown in the Philadelphia area as well as galleries in New England.
