An affiliate of the Traditional Okinawa Karate Institute
Darlington 's Karate Club is based on Isshinryu karate, an Okinawan karate style. Students will learn Isshinryu upper and lower body techniques thrown from a natural, upright stance; Isshinryu Kata (forms); self-defense skills; and some Japanese, which is used frequently in the classroom. Isshinryu karate develops balance, coordination, mental focus, discipline and listening skills. It also develops an awareness of the world around you, and respect for yourself and others.
Students will need to purchase a training uniform, or Gi, for $35 from the instructor. At appropriate times, students will be tested for a higher belt level. There is a testing fee of $35. Testing will be done by TOKI Black belts.

Music Therapy

The goal of the program is to increase appreciation and enjoyment of music while providing for the advancement of psycho/social development and increased functioning at the highest physical and cognitive levels. This program was initiated through a generous grant from the Amateur Chamber Music Players Foundation with additional funding from the Presser Foundation. Compatible groups will be formed by audition for winds, brass, strings and keyboard.
