Darlington 's preschool and kindergarten curriculum includes music, visual arts, creative movement and drama. Teachers emphasize creativity, imagination, exploration, and active participation. In art, the emphasis is on process and progress rather than product. Children are encouraged to experiment with a variety of materials and techniques in order to expand their artistic expression and hand-eye coordination. Music instruction includes listening, singing, moving, and playing rhythm instruments. They develop an appreciation for the patterns and musical variety produced by rhythms and melodies. In drama and creative movement, students engage in role playing and movement utilizing their creativity to its fullest.
Children must be three years old and potty-trained at the start of the semester. Students should dress in play clothes and bring a small snack (please avoid snacks made with peanut products, as a number of our students have severe peanut allergies).
Registrations are accepted throughout the year and tuition will be prorated, provided there are spaces available.
