Dance Company

The mission of the Darlington Dance Company is to provide performance opportunities for dancers that love the spotlight.

Artistic Directors - Amy Henderson & Bess Mattern Witcosky
Weekly rehearsals are Saturdays 9-10:30am.
Students will be accepted by audition only.

New dance works will be created using diverse techniques, including modern, ballet, jazz and hip hop. The dancers' performance quality and love of dance will grow as they discover their creative talents. Performances will be held at Darlington and at various sites in the community.

Application Process

Students must contact the office to schedule an audition time and turn in their paper application to the office by September 9, 2009. Students must prepare a short movement for the auditions on September 12, 2009.

Why should I join?

Joining the Darlington Dance Company will give each student invaluable technical performance experience in a variety of dance forms. It cultivates a sense of comaraderie between students and inspires them to have pride in their creative voices. The Dance Company was specifically designed to include children ages 7 & up to encourage older students to mentor and serve as good role models to the younger members.

What will be expected of me?

• Dancers accepted into the Company must take a minimum of one technique class per week. Any 30- or 34-week Darlington dance class is acceptable.
• Attendance is critical to the success of the Company. Any dancer that misses two Company classes will NOT be allowed to perform in the following performance.
• Dancers are expected to arrive on time for their classes. Any dancer who arrives in excess of 15 minutes late for the Company classes will only be allowed to observer the class for that day.
• While there is no dress code, dancers are expected to wear appropriate dance attire.
• In addition to Company tuition, there may be additional costs for performance costuming. This will be kept to a minimum as we will be drawing on costume ideas that may already exist in the dancer's wardrobes or in our own costume closet.
