Darlington’s Suzuki Music Programs

The Suzuki Method
The Suzuki method of learning to play an instrument is based on the ideas of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. He believed every child has an innate musical talent and music is best learned in the same way that a native language is learned.  The main concepts of the Suzuki method include: starting lessons early, parent participation and encouragement, listening and daily practice, individual and group lessons.

Private Suzuki Instruction
Teachers available through arrangement with the Registrar at 610-358-3632 x103. Any student enrolled in private music lessons is eligible to take Darlington’s music theory classes for free.
2011-2012:
$29.50 / 30 minutes       $44.25 / 45 minutes       $59 / 1 hour

Pre–Twinkle Violin
Pre-Twinkle Violin classes prepare a child to approach the violin with an eager, successful, and musical disposition. Students will learn the fundamental elements of violin playing: basic posture, bow hold, violin hold, and 5 Suzuki rhythms in a fun and high-energy setting. This prepares students for the next level, Twinkler Violin. Final performance for family & friends. Class size limited to 5.

Twinkler Violin
Graduates of Darlington’s Pre-Twinkle Violin advance to Twinkler Violin. In addition to weekly group classes, students receive 30-minute weekly private lessons. Students will learn the notes to Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and five variations of that song. This prepares students for the Suzuki Book 1 Group. Final performance for family & friends. Class size limited to 5.

Suzuki Violin Book Groups
Upon graduation of Twinkler Violin, the students continue their weekly private lessons and progress through the Suzuki Violin Books. Final performance for family & friends.
2010-2011 Suzuki Violin Book Groups:
30 min private violin lesson + Book 1 Group      $42 per week
Violin Book 1 Group      Sat      11:30 AM – 12:15 PM
Teacher – Larsen      34 weeks: Sept 10 – June 2 (Except 11/26, 12/24, 12/31, 4/7, 5/26)
