Darlington's art students have been working hard during the Fall Semester to bring their creations to the June Student & Teaching Artist Gallery, which includes a wide range of subjects, mediums and ages. From preschooler's drawings to adult's oil paintings, there is something for everyone to enjoy and relate to.
The gallery will be free and open to the public through June 29th.

The Chinese Spring Festival (also known as the Chinese New Year) is the most important festival and holiday in China. Campers will join the celebration by learning traditional songs about luck and prosperity, designing beautiful props to use in the famous dragon and lion dances, exploring nuo drama, and more! Campers will end their week with a beautiful Lantern Festival.
The arts are used in community celebrations in every culture around the world. Tap into the festive spirits of these artistic events at Darlington Arts Center’s 2012 Cultural Summer Arts Camp - World Celebrations: Arts Festivals Around the Globe. Each day campers will explore music, visual art, dance and drama from different cultures, as presented in arts festivals world-wide. Students will gain the benefit of learning about diverse cultures and art forms while staying close to home under the direction of professional teaching artists.

Students will study acting, tap and vocal techniques while gaining a broad understanding of the world of musical theater. Teens will work together to create and perform their own dramatic scene using musical excerpts from a popular Broadway musical. Come work with Darlington's professional actors, dancers and singers this summer and find your place on stage! The Summer 2012 Adult Drawing & Painting class will be Tusdays 7-9pm from June 26-Aug 14. The class will emphasize solid technical skill development and an understanding of drawing and painting. Students will learn to be more decisive in their use of color, line, form and composition through discussion and critique of artists from throughout art history.
