Become a Volunteer!
Join Darlington’s Volunteer Team! There is much to be done and extra hands are always needed and appreciated. Essential assistance is supplied by our parents, students, and community members, who offer their time and expertise to assist with performances, educational programming and special events. Teens are welcome to join us in the fulfillment of their community service hours. Please contact Darlington at 610-358-3632 or by email at info@darlingtonarts.org to learn about the current opportunities.
Through volunteering, you help Darlington fulfill its mission and you experience the following benefits:
Arts Education Interns (Art/Music/Drama/Dance)
Darlington is seeking interns to assist with its Summer Arts Camps. Interns are needed within each of Darlington’s four arts disciplines: art, music, drama and dance. These interns will work directly with a Teaching Artist, assisting with set-up and clean-up, helping students with their projects and activities, while gaining valuable classroom experience.
Applicants should be available from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, although actual hours worked will depend on camp enrollment. Applicants may apply for any or all weeks, but must be available for the entire week for which they request.
Applicants should have a high school diploma and be pursuing a degree in arts education or any of the four arts practiced at Darlington. Interns must have a good attitude, work well with children and be able to work comfortably with a professional Teaching Artist. Applicants will be required to complete a criminal record check.
Internships are unpaid; contact us regarding college credit.
To apply: Please send a cover letter, specifying the weeks you are available, and resume to Angela Scully, Executive Director, at angela@darlingtonarts.org, or 977 Shavertown Road, Garnet Valley, PA 19060.
Join Darlington’s Parents Committee!
Darlington is seeking interested parents to join its Parents Committee. The goals of the Parents Committee are two-fold: one is to help the Board and staff in creating new programs while improving existing ones to increase enrollment and motivation and ensure the quality of our programs. The other is to help our fundraising aimed at the upkeep of our facility, and scholarship availability.
With over 2,500 students enrolled annually, we believe the parents of our talented students are the incredible resources not yet fully discovered and utilized. The parents represent our community voice and collective wisdom. Your contributions as a volunteer may be an hour to help organize a performance or event, an additional $50 donation, or a referral of your neighbors to our Summer Arts Camp, which is so important and indispensable to the healthy growth of the Center.
The Committee is organizationally independent of the Board, but will work closely with the Board in strategic planning, organizing events, and creating new programs. If you are interested or want more information, please contact the office at 610-358-3632.
