Show open through Nov 28
Reminiscent of some 19th-century painters, Rick Phillips uses his knowledge of light and color to create atmosphere you can almost touch and smell. Painting en plein aire is almost a religious experience for Rick. Using hard and soft edges selectively he develops the feeling of moisture, wind, and the warmth of the sun in his wonderful paintings. Phillips is drawn to painting en plein aire as well as alla prima painting of the human figure and landscapes. In the city, in the country, or working on a still life, Rick gets to the heart of his subjects with loose and bravura brushstrokes, elegant and evocative color, and a unique sense of mood. His work is in many private collections, both locally and nationally. Rick has studied at Studio Incammanati, Delaware College of Art and Design, and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He is an active member of The Philadelphia Sketch Club.
Meet Rick and discuss his inspiration at the Opening Reception on Saturday, November 5th from 3pm to 5pm. If you are unable to make it to the reception, the show will be open through November 28th (Darlington will be closed Nov 24-27).
