Andrea is the 2009 winner of the Philadelphia Songwriter’s Project and won the 2012 Montgomery/Bucks Music Awards songwriting contest with her song “Mysterious Moon,” which is featured on her 2011 album Drivin’ Myself Wild for You. Her captivating performance style and original music have earned her praise throughout the Philadelphia region: “Andrea Carlson delivers beautiful tunes with her warm and coy voice. Carlsons’ words cater for the counterpoint: witty, funny and full of life. A delight to the ear in which they touch down” (Guy Zinger, Adore Jazz). Radio host Charlie Silverstri writes that the first time he heard Andrea Carlson, he fell in love: “If you like music that can whisk you away from all of your problems, away from your very era; songs that soothe and entertain; songs that tell a story, break your heart, then return you safely to the 21st century with your toe tapping and your fingers drumming on the table… Well, let’s just say, you’ll love Andrea Carlson too.” (Up Close and Acoustic)
Since graduating with her B.M. in Classical Guitar, Andrea Carlson has performed in dozens of top venues and festivals, including an opening slot for James Brown. In 2013, she embarked on a European tour, with stops at the Green Note in London, the Samois Django Festival in Paris, Songwriter’s Circle in Amsterdam, and featured performances in Barcelona and Edinburgh. Last summer, she added Norway, Austria, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic to her list. She regularly performs around the Philadelphia area. Listen to her music online at www.andreacarlsonmusic.com.
